To lose weight or simply for our health and better feeling every day – we all have some reasons why we’d like to follow a certain diet, based on good foods, and not on our cravings and comfort. If you follow your dream diet on a daily basis, you are in the minority (and we are only talking about those who are thinking about what they are eating at all). For most of us, even if we have a clear goal, sticking to the perfect diet is a huge problem. So how do you change your diet for good?

So you probably don’t stick to your perfect diet yet, but you can enter the path of changing your eating habits. And this is something! You take the first steps. And if you take a few steps this way – you don’t want to go back. Even if you eat something sweet from time to time – it already tastes too sweet. And you eat less of it than you thought.

How to change your diet for good?

Slowly. I will repeat it again on this blog: a small change that will stay with you forever is much better and stronger, and gives more benefits, including health benefits than sticking to the perfect diet for… a day and a half.

Below are some simple tips on how you can make slow, gradual changes in your diet.

rule 1. | Decide what you want to eat.

Define your diet, which is what you want to eat in your ideal life. We tend to pay attention to what we have forbidden ourselves. But you have to eat something. There is something you can eat.

Think about what you will eat, not what you do not want to eat. First of all, because you need something that will fill your stomach and nourish your body. Secondly, because if you think of a product you want to avoid, e.g. sweet chocolate, then in your head is this voice “I can’t eat chocolate, I can’t eat chocolate” and with such thoughts, it won’t be easier to keep a diet!

rule 2. | Eat allowed foods in large quantities.

Instead of eliminating bad, introduce good. Let the desired foods remove the ones you want to avoid.

If you only have chocolate in the fridge 😉, well, you have no chance to stick to your dream diet.

Fill your pantry and fridge! Start buying a lot of food from the list of products you want in your diet. And eat. A lot. Of what you want and like.

If you previously ate four ham and three chocolate rolls during the day, and now you try to eat three large portions of good, nutritious food during the day, you will simply not have enough stomach space for these rolls and chocolates.

Plus, try to have fun in the process and to enjoy your meals and even the meal prep time!

rule 3. | Be kind to yourself. Forgive.

How do you change your diet for good when you have cravings for sugar and processed food? Certainly, it is better to improve slowly than never. If you eat healthier every day, but one day you just have a bad day and eat a lot of banned products at once, don’t worry about this deviation from a good diet. Don’t blame yourself. Next time, try to fill your stomach with something delicious and desirable (from your yes list) in the morning.

After all, for many years and from many we have heard that stress badly affects our physical health and mental condition. Don’t you think that stress can be more harmful to our body than occasionally eating an unhealthy product? If you have to improve your mood on a bad day with coffee and halva – go ahead. And the next day you will have the mental strength to maintain a good diet (start in the morning!). Also, remember that over time, unhealthy products just don’t taste as they used to, so the cravings problem begins to disappear. In addition, at moments of deviation from the diet, you consciously recognize what these products do with your body: drowsiness, energy and mood jumps. And you know you don’t want to go back to it as a daily norm.

Be gentle to yourself.

What to eat and where can I find knowledge?

My personal choice is a diet between paleo and carnivore.

When working on how to change your diet for good, don’t forget to look for information about what is important to nourish your body. Keep in mind the weaknesses of your individual body. Collect information, but do not trust every source. Learn.
