There are two main reasons you can reach for the book Tools of Titans by Tim Ferriss. The first is that many people (me included) were inspired and changed by his previous books The 4-Hour Workweek and The 4-Hour Body. These books include knowledge, methods, and guidelines that I can describe as just powerful.
The second reason to read Tool of Titans is what I call the power of stories. You can observe that people are more often changed by other people’s examples (of a career, lifestyle, life mission, attitude, habits) than by theoretical descriptions and arguments for a certain behavior or action. Not so long ago I’ve written about the power of sharing your story, listing elements of my life that wouldn’t be parts of my life if I hadn’t met certain people or be able to meet them in their public writing or speaking.
Who is Tim Ferriss and why you’ll love to read his books
Tim Ferriss in a 40-year old entrepreneur, writer, and experimentator (he calls it the human guinea pig).
He became well-known and adored by thousands of people after publishing The 4-Hour Workweek, a book about good, wise, effective lifestyle design that lets you… yes, have a 4-hour work week.
I just love the way Tim Ferriss writes. His writing voice makes reading easy and enjoyable. He uses normal language and I fell like he’d just speak to a friend. Both his writing style and of course the information he shares made me listen to The 4-Hour Workweek audiobook and read it multiple times. And I plan to read it from time to time to adjust the current state of my business to his advice.
And let’s come back to the human guinea pig. Tim Ferriss undertakes experiments to optimize his life: work, diet, exercises, communication and much more. He checks and then let us know in which activities it’s possible to minimize the effort and time consumed/needed to get the effect we want.
Tim Ferriss seems to be seeking for a life where we can be ok with our values because we manage our resources (time, finances, attention) effectively and can be able to grow in areas of life that are important to us, like for example giving time to your spouse, kids and other relationships or traveling. And it’s what he teaches us in his books.

The subtitle of the book is The Tactics, Routines, and Habits of Billionaires, Icons, and World-Class Performers and it explains us the idea of the book. Tim Ferriss did the work that I think everyone who cares about self-growth would wish to do: he collected most powerful life/success advice from very successful people of our times, people of different professions: authors, sportsmen, investors, actors, businessmen…
The One Truth you have to remember about success, happiness, and fulfillment
If you’re interested in business management or in life wisdom, or in successful people’s stories and advice, you’ve probably observed that different people stick to opposite opinions or ways of acting but still they all are successful and get desired results.
The advice to sell healthy food for profit is as good as the advice to sell junk food for profit. You cannot say that one of those categories have no customers, that there is no market, no demand, no sense in selling it.
The advice to focus on you in your writing is as good as the advice to focus on your readers in your writing. You cannot say that people writing about their personal choices, lifestyle, travels, and thoughts have no success, just as you cannot say that people concentrating on solving other people’s problems or in other way reacting to other people’s needs have no success.
Every system and every rule can work or not work at all.
Successful people have various often opposite habits and opinions. And still, they all are successful.
